About the Author
Shirley Louise Gonsalves is a UK-based Goan. She undertook this study while a post-graduate student at the School of Oriental and African Studies University of London, in the Department of History. Incidentally, her great-grandfather, J.B. Pinto, wrote an often-cited book on Goan migration in the early 1960s.
